This past weekend the Vail Mountain School varsity boys soccer traveled to coal ridge to participate in a four-team tournament. On Friday the 9th the Gore Rangers played Telluride Highschool. The Gore Rangers won with a dominant full-time score of 6-0. Goals were scored by Nolan Kim (Sr.), Rutley Heineman(So.), Thomas Turilli(Sr.), Turner Ringler(Sr.), Drew Johnson(So.), and Jack Schwartz (Jr.). This win progressed The Gore Ranger to the next round where they would play Coal Ridge high school in the finals on Saturday, September 10. Vail Mountain school failed to find their stride against the 3a rivals resulting in a 2-0 loss. Though a loss is unfortunate, Captain Thomas Turilli says, “The team is looking forward to the upcoming games and rebounding after the loss against coal ridge”. Though the weekend didn’t end greatly, the Telluride game gave Evan Sapp his first game minutes since his concussion against Steamboat. Junior varsity players were also able to get their first varsity minutes, a huge step in their obvious bright soccer futures. Looking forward the Gore Ranger Soccer team has an away stretch starting with Aspen on September 15th, and Roaring Fork on September 19th.
