JV Boys Golf Gets Experience
October 3, 2022
On September 16th members of VMS’s JV Golf traveled to Chipeta golf course in Grand Junction to participate in the annual Western Slop JV tournament and gained valuable experience. The JV players left school at 8:15 a.m and did not return until 9:00 p.m, this was a taste of what was to come in their Highschool Golf careers. As the team arrived at the course it was raining and an alarm went off due to lightning nearby which delayed play and pushed back tee times by about 30 minutes. Due to the rain, the greens became softer and allowed for the ball to stop quicker on approach shots. At the end of the day, the VMS Freshmen team placed 6th out of 12 teams with a total score of 260. The course was a par 59 course, Grant Iverson shot an 82, Andrew Forstl shot an 87, and Weston Roach shot a 91. This was a fun and light experience for the players as many of them had just recently started playing golf for the first time or picked it back up after a while.
